The Bypass surgery re-establishes normal blood flow to the heart by generating a “diversion” (bypass) round the obstructed artery/arteries. In the Bypass surgery, a healthy blood vessel, called a graft is used. Grafts are generally derived from your own arteries and veins positioned in the chest, leg or arm. This graft creates a new passageway to transmit oxygen-rich blood to the heart.
